Time to upgrade your PC, or did you decide to get rid of your laptop and use only your tablet? Maybe you want a new smartphone or a new car. What does all of this have to do with Electronics Security you ask? More than you think. All of the above devices have some type of storage device, a hard drive, micro-sd card, ssd drive or eprom. They all have some type of personal information on them, from your contact list to your banking information and tax returns. So let’s take a look at some of these devices and what you can do to remove your personal information.

PC or Laptop– These usually have a hard drive that will contain the most personal information of any device. Before selling, donating or recycling you should at least reformat your hard drive. This will make it appear that your hard drive is empty, but in fact all your information is still there. 二手手機回收價 Reformatting just removes the pointers to your data. It’s much better and safer to use a commercial grade program that will remove the pointer and write ones and zero across the drive. This can be done multiple times. If you really want to be safe remove the hard drive and destroy it yourself.

Smartphone– These devices have internal memory that will store your data; some also have removable micro-sd cards that will store data. The phone usually has a function that will reset your phone and set everything back to its default setting, this will usually remove all your data that was store internally. It is best to remove the micro-sd card and use it on your new phone or destroy it. Some smartphones are connected to cloud storage such as; iTunes, box, dropbox or some other cloud storage, make sure that your new phone can connect to your old storage, if not delete all your cloud data and delete your account.

Tablet– These devices are very similar to the smartphone and you should follow the same steps with your tablet to remove or delete your data.

Vehicle– Most new vehicles today have a connection that they make to your smartphone through Bluetooth. They also have a storage device, usually a hard drive that will store your contacts, map history, music and even photos. When you trade or sell your vehicle make sure that all the data is removed or deleted. The steps to do this are usually in your user manual or you can contact the dealer. Each manufacturer has their own procedure.
